whether or not Hylobatidae is "finished" is up for debate, but you can listen to it now on soundcloud. i had so much other stuff i meant to do today. i haven't eaten dinner yet. but i made something, and i don't do nearly enough making, so it's alright.
today i went to guitarcenter to "play around" with the synths and walked out with a midi controller. i have been wanting to start this project for a while and the time feels right. i've almost finished a track that i'm actually very happy with although it had some growing pains (including a sidechained sample of a furnace that made me feel genuinely queasy).
for Lent this year i'm giving up social media. i am not Catholic. i narrowly missed being raised Catholic. instead i grew up Episcopalian and to be honest i have no idea if Episcopalians observe Lent. i certainly never did. anyways, i'm so used to posting all of my thoughts on social media which i can't do for the next 37 days, and my friends probably don't want my stream of consciousness dumped upon them via text message, but none of this is proper journal material. (i do, in fact, have a real journal for my more internal thoughts.) something about a blog is very charming to me and soothes my compulsive need to put my musings into the world. i don't expect anyone to really read this or care about it.
once the track is finished up i plan to upload it here as a demo. i think i'll wait until i make something a little more substantial like an EP to put anything on bandcamp.
it's snowing outside; four to eight inches forecasted. from the window of my attic bedroom i can see it accumulate on my neighbor's roof. the world looks so soft and clear like this.
